ABCA Duties of Officers
Executive Director
The Executive Director will administer all business and affairs of the Association with direction
and supervision of the Board of Directors. The Executive Director will serve as Secretary for all
meetings of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and General Membership. He shall serve
as the Secretary during all meetings. If he is not present, the President, 1st V-P, etc. will do so.
He will also be co-treasurer with the 4th Vice-President. He will serve as a consultant to the
President or any Board Members needing guidance. The Executive Director will publish the ABCA
Newsletter at least three times a year. He will also pursue funds for the ABCA, and its' events,
such as a corporate sponsor for the convention, awards reception, underclassmen showcase, etc. The
Executive Director and President will make a yearly calendar for the ABCA in December, and present
it to the Association at the annual Convention.
* All of the following positions shall be held for three year's each.
President
The President shall preside at all meetings of the association as the chief executive officer.
He shall have the power to appoint the four vice-presidents, and the committee chairmen.
He shall have the power to appoint special committees for the purpose of improving the objectives
of the association. He will assist the Executive Director with the raising of funds for the
association. His term shall last for three years, with the option to be nominated for a second
three-year term by the Board of Directors or Executive Director. He will contact each award
recipient - Hall of Fame, Distinguished Service, Coach of the Year. He will present the coach
of the year awards at the annual convention, along with the First Vice-President. He will organize
and call each of the three board member meetings to be held throughout the year. He may call
any other meetings as he sees necessary.
Vice-President
He will assist the President in any matters necessary. He shall preside over any meeting the
President is not able to attend. He will be the Awards Committee chair. He will gather all
information needed from the award recipients. He will present the Coach of the Year Awards,
along with the President. He will be the successor to the President, provided his promotion
is approved by a majority of the ABCA Board of Directors. Once in office, he will appoint his own
Four Vice-Presidents, and Committee Chairs, who then must be approved by the Board of Directors
majority vote.
Second Vice-President
Shall preside over any meeting, should the President or First Vice-President both not be present.
He shall serve as the chair of the Coaches Convention Committee, in which he will be responsible
for the selection and organization of all clinic sessions, and all other activities that take place
during that time - (exhibitors, hospitality suite, awards, media, etc). He will be assisted by other
committee chairs, who's responsibilities are defined in the by-laws. The Executive Director will serve
as a consultant to the Second Vice-President during his planning of the convention.
Third Vice-President
He shall the chief organizer of the Underclassmen Showcase, which consists of four statewide
regional workouts, and a two-day showcase weekend. He will be paid $100/day plus his travel
expenses to conduct the workouts. The Executive Director will consult with him with this event,
while a pro scout will assist him in running the workouts. He will preside over any meeting the
President, 1st and 2nd Vice-President can not attend.
Fourth Vice-President
He shall be the chief financial officer responsible for the receipt and disbursement of funds as
authorized by the Board of Directors or Executive Director or President. Accurate records are to
be kept and will be subject to annual audit by an independent auditor, as voted on by the board.
A financial report shall be given as routine order of business at all open meeting.
Hospitality Chair
Handle all aspects of the hospitality suites at the annual coaches convention and the
underclassman showcase weekend.
Membership
Appoint recruiters on the professional (scouts), college (junior college & four-year),
high school (AHSAA & AISA) and summer league (Dixie Majors, Babe Ruth, American Legion)
levels, with the purpose of increasing ABCA membership and convention attendees.
Media Relations
Get any pertinent ABCA information out to the print and television media.
This information would include, but not be limited to, PSA's about our annual convention,
underclassmen regional workout's & the showcase weekend, pre-season top ten ranking's as
voted on by the coaches, and any other information the board wanted publicized.
